Sappho - The Tenth Muse

 

It's a dramaturgical script written out of a request I received from some actors friends of mine. They needed a script for a company primarily consisting of actresses.

I decided then to study the figure of Sappho, the famous and mysterious poetess of the island of Lesbos, recalling her role of teacher of a bevy of young Lesbians. 

I developed a script about her life, works and struggles, with an interesting twist.

Later, I've been encouraged to turn the script into a book, signing myself with an unlikely working pseudonym!

With songs, memories and dialogues, I wrote about the life and works of Sappho, her love for her daughter and the young Lesbians, of the uncertain figure of her husband, the eroticism inspired by the goddess Aphrodite, and the friendly relationship with the poet Alceus. 

 

All is linked by a common thread violently held by an exceptional figure: the Devil.

Initially omitting his goals, He will approach the poetess in her last, unknown moments of life, forcing her to face what would probably be her greatest introspective battle ever fought.
